Polish border guards did not slow down the passage of buses
Reports that Polish border guards have begun to process passenger buses more slowly are untrue. The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine stated that the Polish side has not slowed down the processing of people and vehicles. Traffic across the Polish section of the border is generally proceeding as usual.
In recent days, information has appeared online regarding an alleged slowdown in the processing of passenger buses at the border with Poland. Specifically, it was reported that Polish border guards had supposedly begun checking documents more thoroughly, causing the processing of vehicles to take longer. Andriy Demchenko, a spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service, stated that Polish border guards have not slowed down their work. According to him, the Polish side continues to process crossings as usual.
“A few days ago, I saw a report claiming that lines at the border with Poland had formed because Polish border guards had started checking documents more thoroughly there and were processing, for example, bus routes rather slowly. This is false and inaccurate information. Polish border guards have not reduced the intensity of their work regarding border crossing operations,” Demchenko said.
How border crossings at the Polish border work
According to the State Border Guard Service spokesperson, Polish border guards act in accordance with Polish law and established procedures when inspecting people and vehicles. These are the rules by which the Polish side conducts border control and processing of citizens, vehicles, and passenger transport. “Polish border guards follow the provisions of their own legislation and their own operational procedures for processing people and vehicles,” Demchenko explained.
At the same time, the State Border Guard Service has not observed a general slowdown in traffic across the Polish section of the border. “Therefore, overall, traffic across the Polish section of the border is proceeding normally, and we have not observed a decrease in traffic volume,” noted the State Border Guard Service spokesperson.
Are There Problems at the Border?
The presence of lines or longer wait times on certain routes does not mean that Polish border guards have intentionally slowed down their work. Various factors can affect the speed of border crossing, including the number of people and vehicles arriving at checkpoints simultaneously. This is particularly noticeable on bus routes, where a single vehicle carries many passengers at once. Each passenger must be checked and processed in accordance with established regulations.
Therefore, wait times may vary depending on the situation at a specific border crossing point. At the same time, according to the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, there is no basis for claiming that the Polish side has generally reduced the intensity of its operations. The Border Guard Service also urges the public to rely on official information and not to spread unverified reports about an alleged deliberate slowdown in the work of Polish border guards. Currently, according to Andriy Demchenko, traffic across the Polish section of the border continues, and Ukrainian border guards have not observed a decrease in the overall volume of border crossing operations. The State Border Guard Service has refuted this information.
