An advisor to the mayor of Ochakiv has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for treason
Following a public indictment by the Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, the court found a 55-year-old resident of Ochakiv guilty of treason under martial law and illegal possession of weapons. He was sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.
This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General.
It was proven that, while serving as an advisor to the mayor, the defendant was recruited by representatives of the Russian Federation’s special services and passed on information to them regarding the consequences of shelling in the Ochakiv community.
He was also tasked with persuading the mayor to cooperate with the aggressor state and to arrange contact with representatives of the Russian Federation. The official reported this to law enforcement.
During searches of the convicted man’s premises, unregistered firearms and ammunition were seized.
The prosecutor’s officehas referred a case involving a fraudulent scheme with medical certificates to court.
