The National Security and Defense Council denied reports that a Belarusian plane had strayed into Ukrainian airspace

Reports that a Belarusian Il-62 cargo plane allegedly crossed the Ukrainian border are untrue, according to the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine and the Center for Countering Disinformation.

On June 25, media reports emerged claiming that a Belarusian Il-62 cargo plane had allegedly flown into the Chernihiv region and subsequently crossed the Ukrainian-Moldovan border

The reports cited data from the Flightradar24 service.

However, the NSDC emphasized that no aircraft belonging to Belarusian airlines had crossed Ukrainian airspace.

“This information is not true; no aircraft operated by Belarusian airlines has crossed the Ukrainian border,” the Center for Countering Disinformation stated.

The Center also added that the relevant media reports had been refuted by the military, and that the incident itself could have been the result of a technical error on the part of Flightradar24.

Despite the false nature of the information about the plane’s “incursion,” Ukrainian authorities note that threats from the Belarusian direction have not completely disappeared.

According to the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, there are currently no signs that Belarus is preparing for an invasion, but Russia continues to try to drag Minsk into the war against Ukraine.

At the same time, the Foreign Intelligence Service reports that Belarus is actively expanding its military infrastructure near the Ukrainian border. This includes the construction of roads, ammunition depots, and fuel depots.

According to intelligence reports, such facilities are being built along the Kobrin–Kovel, Ivanove–Manevychi, Luninets–Sarny, Rechitsa–Korosten, and Gomel–Chernihiv routes.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that such infrastructure serves military purposes, and Ukraine has already conveyed this message to Minsk.

He called on the Belarusian side to halt the construction of military facilities near the border and take steps toward de-escalation.

Thus, the report of an aircraft “straying” into Ukrainian airspace was refuted; however, the situation along the Belarusian border remains a focus of heightened attention for Ukrainian security services.

The National Security and Defense Council emphasized that the news about a Belarusian aircraft “straying” into Ukraine is fake.

In addition, Ukraine must form new brigades to strengthen its defenses along the northern front in light of the potential threat from Belarus and Russia’s intentions to expand the zone of hostilities.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that as of June 22, the relay stations on Belarusian territory that Russian troops had been using to direct strikes against Ukraine are no longer operational.
