Russia may resort to aggression against Armenia — Budanov
Kirill Budanov, head of the Main Intelligence Directorate, stated that a scenario involving Russian aggression against Armenia is entirely plausible. According to him, Russia currently possesses sufficient forces and resources to carry out such actions. He noted that such a turn of events cannot be ruled out given the Kremlin’s overall policy in the region.
Budanov made these remarks during the international forum “Security Architecture.”
Responding to a question about whether Russian aggression against Armenia following the Ukrainian scenario is possible, Budanov said: “In my personal opinion, yes, it is absolutely realistic. And why? Geography allows for it... And there is no point in comparing the military strength of Armenia and the Russian Federation. Everyone understands this.”
He noted that relevant signals from Moscow to Yerevan began to appear two years ago.
Zelenskyyhas ordered the active phase of the war to be brought to a swift conclusion, according to Budanov.
Budanov stated that Russia continues to attempt his assassination even during negotiations.
Ukraine is ready for dialogue with Russia provided Moscow is genuinely committed to serious talks, but such meetings require careful preparation. Any direct contacts between the leaders of the warring states do not occur spontaneously or via ordinary telephone communication.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that he is ready to hold a summit with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, and the search for an appropriate format is currently underway.
