The Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office is seeking to seize the assets of a tax official in Lviv Oblast
The Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) has filed a motion with the High Anti-Corruption Court seeking a ruling that the assets of a State Tax Service official in Lviv Oblast are of unjustified origin; according to the investigation, she may have acquired property worth significantly more than her legitimate income. The case involves a house and a plot of land, the market value of which is estimated to be in the millions of hryvnias. This was reported by the SAP.
The prosecutor has already filed a lawsuit with the High Anti-Corruption Court to recover the funds for the state. According to the investigation, the official holds the position of deputy head of the department for the identification and assessment of tax risks at the Main Directorate of the State Tax Service in Lviv Oblast.
The property in question is a 136.1-square-meter single-family home and a 535-square-meter plot of land in Lviv Oblast, on which the property is located. Law enforcement officials established that in 2022, the official registered the land as her property but failed to declare the unfinished construction project, which was purchased along with the plot.
According to the analysis, the minimum market value of this property at the time of construction completion in 2023 was 6,793,800 hryvnias. At the same time, an audit of the family’s income and expenses showed that official funds may have been insufficient for such a purchase.
The SAP notes that the difference between the declared income and the value of the assets exceeds 4.4 million hryvnias, which, according to the prosecutor’s complaint, may be recovered into the state budget. “An analysis of the official’s income and expenses, as well as those of her family members, indicates that it was impossible to acquire these assets using lawful income,” the case materials state.
The court is now set to consider the lawsuit regarding the recognition of the assets as unjustified and their possible forfeiture to the state.
