The SBU has warned of a surge in fake websites impersonating Ukrainian government agencies
Russian intelligence agencies are creating a large number of fake websites and social media pages that mimic the official resources of Ukrainian government agencies and media outlets.
These resources are used to collect data and recruit citizens.
As noted, the Russians are using these fake pages to carry out information and psychological special operations (IPSO) to destabilize the socio-political situation within Ukraine and undermine its position on the international stage.
In addition, the occupiers use fake accounts for phishing and collecting data on Ukrainians.
“Russian agents often hack the accounts of users who follow fake social media pages and messenger channels to steal their personal data. They then use the information obtained to conduct recruitment operations and collect confidential data,” the statement reads.
Information about the combat and operational activities of the Ukrainian Defense Forces is of particular interest to Russian intelligence agencies.
The Department of Cybersecurity noted that it has already blocked more than 50 websites that, in their appearance and positioning, mimicked the branding of the SBU itself. Law enforcement officials urge the public to remain vigilant, avoid clicking on suspicious links, and trust only official sources.
This was reported by the Security Service of Ukraine.
The Russian military is massively spreading AI-generated fakes about the capture of Ukrainian villages.
Analysts note that the dissemination of such materials can create a false impression of the situation on the front lines and be used by the Russian side to claim control over territories that is not actually confirmed.
Earlier, Russia attacked Izyum with KAB missiles; among the casualties was a two-month-old infant.
