Svyrydenko held a meeting with the "Servant of the People" faction in the Verkhovna Rada
The Prime Minister, along with government officials, met with members of the “Servant of the People” faction. During the meeting, they discussed support for draft laws that Ukraine has committed to passing as part of its cooperation with international partners, particularly the IMF.
A source in the “Servant of the People” faction told Ukrinform about this.
“At the meeting, they discussed the agenda and the results of the votes. In particular, this concerns initiatives that need to be adopted as part of our agreements with the International Monetary Fund,” the source said.
The lawmaker clarified that this refers to legislative initiative No. 15111-d on the implementation of international automatic exchange of information on income received through digital platforms and the taxation of such income. It also includes initiative No. 12360 on assessing the efficiency and effectiveness of customs authorities (taxation of parcels valued at up to 150 euros).
“These legislative initiatives are on the preliminary agenda for tomorrow. We expect them to be considered in the second reading,” the deputy said.
The agency’s source noted that during the meeting, Yulia Svyrydenko and Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko emphasized the importance of these bills for increasing state budget revenues and fulfilling international obligations to receive a financial tranche from the IMF.
“The idea was that, ideally, the relevant documents should be adopted by the end of the month, that is, during this or the next plenary week. But our parliament is so unpredictable right now, so there may be delays. I don’t think things will move so quickly with the second bill (on the taxation of parcels—ed.),” he noted.
The representative of “Servant of the People” emphasized that after lengthy discussions and amendments to the bill on the taxation of digital platforms, “the votes should be there.”
“As for the bill on parcel taxation, things are more complicated here. There are many contentious issues that require discussion among lawmakers and in the relevant committee,” the politician added.
