Auto parts worth 2 million were found in a power plant in Transcarpathia
In Transcarpathia, border guards discovered an unusual hiding place containing auto parts. Inside a truck traveling from Hungary through the “Tisa” border crossing, 483 parts and components with a total value of approximately 2 million hryvnias were found inside one of the electric generators.
In Transcarpathia, border guards from the Chop Detachment, together with customs officials, discovered a large shipment of auto parts that someone had attempted to smuggle across the border. The hiding place was set up right inside an electric generator. The goods were found during an inspection of a Volvo truck that had arrived in Ukraine from Hungary.
The truck was transporting electric generator sets. At first glance, it appeared that this was the only cargo intended to cross the border. However, border guards received intelligence about a possible violation and decided to conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle.
The auto parts were hidden inside the generator
During the inspection, a border patrol team, together with operational staff from the Chop Detachment and customs officers, examined the generator sets. Inside the cavity of one of the generators, law enforcement officers found the concealed goods. There were 483 automotive parts and various components.
Thus, the cavity of the equipment—which was officially being transported as the main cargo—was used to smuggle the goods. According to preliminary estimates, the value of the auto parts found is approximately 2 million hryvnias.
The goods were seized
The discovered auto parts and components were seized by customs officials. The goods were processed in accordance with established procedures. It is currently known that this was an attempt to move the products across the state border while concealing them from border and customs control.
The relevant authorities will determine the further circumstances of the case. Specifically, this includes the origin of the goods, their exact value, and all details of the attempt to transport them across the border. At the same time, border guards once again remind the public that when crossing the state border, goods must be properly declared and available for inspection. This time, the hiding place was concealed inside a generator, but it was still discovered during a thorough inspection.
