Protests against Fedorov's resignation are continuing for the sixth day in cities across Ukraine
For the sixth day in a row, protests have been taking place in various cities across Ukraine, demanding the reinstatement of former Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov and the dismissal of Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi.
In Kyiv, protesters gathered in the square near the Franko Theater. They held signs calling for Fedorov’s reinstatement and Syrskyi’s dismissal, according to “Ukrainska Pravda,” citing “Suspilne.”
In Dnipro, the rally began with a minute of silence and the singing of the national anthem. Participants unfurled a large Ukrainian flag and chanted: “Syrskyi out,” “Soldiers aren’t disposable,” “The Rada must get to work tomorrow,” and “As long as the army stands, so do we.”
Rallies are also taking place in Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Uzhhorod, and Kharkiv. Protests with similar demands were held in Kyiv and other cities on July 16, 17, 18, 19, and 20.
Earlier, Volodymyr Zelenskyy acknowledged that Fedorov and Syrskyi had been unable to find common ground, and that problems on the battlefield, within the brigades, and regarding mobilization remained unresolved. On July 18, he reported on discussions with the former defense minister and the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and promised that “solutions regarding the army will be worked out.” On July 20, Syrskyi apologized to Fedorov and stated that he had been unaware of the conflict between them.
