Ukraine is preparing for a large-scale deployment of interceptor drones

Ukraine may begin widespread use of interceptor drones as early as the next few months. Kirill Budanov, head of the Office of the President, stated that prototypes of these drones are already being tested in combat conditions and are shooting down Russian drones. The main task now is to scale up their production and use.

Ukraine is already testing interceptor drones directly in combat conditions. These are drones designed to destroy enemy UAVs. This was stated by the head of the Office of the President, Kirill Budanov, in a comment to Novosti.LIVE on September 27.

According to him, Ukrainian developers have moved beyond testing solely in laboratories. Prototypes are being tested in real combat conditions. “We are now testing prototypes not in laboratories as we did before, but in live combat situations, and they are doing their job,” Budanov said. In other words, these drones are already being used against Russian drones, and, according to Budanov, they are capable of shooting them down.

When will interceptor drones be deployed on a large scale?

Ukraine is currently working to increase the number of such systems. Budanov noted that the next step should be to scale up the production and deployment of interceptor drones. He predicts that they could begin to be used on a large scale within a few months. The head of the Presidential Office did not specify an exact date for the start of mass production or the number of drones they plan to manufacture.

At the same time, testing of these systems is already underway. Earlier, the Ukrainian Armed Forces also reported that several models of interceptor drones are being tested on the front lines, specifically to counter Russian jet-powered drones. Such systems are viewed as one of the ways to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense. Their mission is to detect and destroy enemy drones before they reach their targets.

Thus, Ukraine is currently in the phase of combat testing and scaling up the use of interceptor drones. According to Budanov, their widespread deployment could begin as early as the coming months. Kirill Budanov, head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, made this statement in a comment to Novosti.LIVE.

A new large-scale prisoner exchange between Ukraine and Russia could take place as early as next week. Kirill Budanov, head of the Office of the President, stated that news on this matter is expected in the near future. However, he did not specify an exact date or the number of people who might be returned.
