Ukraine has spoken out against easing sanctions against Belaruskali
Ukraine categorically rejects any possibility of easing sanctions against the Belarusian potash fertilizer producer "Belaruskali" and insists on increasing pressure on Russia's ally.
This was stated by Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga during a joint press conference with Belarusian opposition leader Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya.
According to the minister, Kyiv does not support any initiatives to ease the sanctions regime against Belarus, but is instead considering the possibility of imposing new restrictions.
“We reject any approaches related to easing pressure on the aggressor. On the contrary, pressure must be intensified,” Sibiga emphasized.
He also noted that one should not expect that easing sanctions will help distance Alexander Lukashenko’s regime from Moscow, as Belarus is too deeply integrated with Russia.
On March 26, the U.S. lifted sanctions against the Belarusian Ministry of Finance, the Development Bank, and the company “Belaruskali,” as well as a number of related entities.
Recall that Lukashenkoannounced a “major deal” with the U.S. at Trump’s suggestion.
