Ukraine has proposed a deal to Germany regarding drone production — Zelenskyy

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Ukraine has proposed an agreement to Germany regarding the joint production of various types of drones. According to him, the relevant teams are already beginning practical work on implementing this initiative.

"We have proposed an agreement to Germany regarding drones—a bilateral drone deal covering various types of drones, missiles, software, and modern defense systems. Our teams are beginning concrete work. Our experience can be integrated into the European security system," Zelenskyy said in Berlin at a joint press conference with German Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz.

The President noted that 10 agreements at various levels have already been signed with Germany, including an agreement on air defense. This involves missiles for air defense systems, specifically PAC-2, and launchers for IRIS-T

"We must ensure that we have the capabilities so that Europeans can produce here, in Europe, everything that is critically necessary for the defense of Europe… This applies, in particular, to Europe’s ability to produce anti-ballistic air defense systems in the necessary quantities and with full protection against any drones and any aerial targets," Zelenskyy noted.

He reported that he had discussed this with Merz, and work is ongoing to achieve this result.

"Ukraine is ready to make its contribution," the head of state emphasized.

Zelenskyy also announced that an intergovernmental consultation between the countries will take place on Tuesday, focusing on defense cooperation and joint defense production.

"This is the first time in over 20 years that such a format of intergovernmental consultations has taken place between our countries. We expect that the next consultations between the governments will take place next year, and not another 20 years from now; God willing, they will take place in a peaceful Ukraine," he concluded.
