Ukrainian military musicians and British marines took the internet by storm with a song
In Kyiv, the Royal Marine Band of the United Kingdom, together with the Ukrainian Armed Forces Model Band, performed to mark Ukraine’s Independence Day. Their joint performance of the legendary song took place at the Mariinsky Palace and sparked a huge reaction online.
The orchestras performed at the Mariinsky Palace in Kyiv, in the White Hall of Heroes of Ukraine. The Royal Marine Band of Great Britain provided the musical accompaniment, with musicians playing a variety of instruments alongside members of the Ukrainian orchestra.
“The performance took place at a unique venue—the White Hall of Heroes of Ukraine at the Mariinsky Palace in Kyiv, where the President of Ukraine receives foreign leaders and awards the highest state honor to the defenders of Ukraine—the title of Hero of Ukraine,” the post reads.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces Orchestra sang the song “Oy u luzi chervona kalyna” with musical accompaniment from their colleagues from the United Kingdom. “This well-known Ukrainian patriotic song was written at the beginning of World War I and regained popularity after Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine began, becoming a symbol of the Ukrainian people’s determination to defend their land. Britain is proud to be a friend to Ukraine today and always!” the embassy stated.
This was reported with reference to the British Embassy in Kyiv.
