Ukrainians can receive 10,000 hryvnias in aid from the UN: here’s how
The UN Refugee Agency is providing financial assistance to Ukrainians who have relocated within the country or returned from abroad after February 24, 2022. The payment of 10,800 hryvnias per family member covers a three-month period and is intended for individuals with an income of less than 6,318 hryvnias per month.
According to the Right to Protection Charitable Foundation, to receive the funds, one must fall into one of the vulnerability categories, specifically being a single parent or having elderly family members or individuals with disabilities in the household.
Applications for assistance are processed only upon in-person submission at data collection points of the Right to Protection Charitable Foundation, as online registration is not available. Applicants must provide a passport, tax ID number, children’s birth certificates, and an IBAN bank account number. All family members must be present during registration, with the exception of individuals with limited mobility, whose information is recorded based on original documents.
Special data collection offices are operating in more than ten regions of Ukraine, including Kyiv, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, and frontline regions. Meanwhile, payments under the support program for pensioners and people with disabilities were suspended in July 2025 due to funding constraints. Additionally, the application period for one-time assistance to purchase solid fuel has now closed, and there is currently no information regarding the launch of the program for the new season.
Previously, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) estimated the financial needs for assisting Ukrainian refugees in 2026 at $614 million, which is 23.6% less than in 2025 ($803.6 million).
As of the end of 2025, there were 5.86 million registered Ukrainian refugees worldwide, of whom approximately 5.3 million are in Europe. Within the country, 3.7 million people remain internally displaced, and 73% of them have been living in this status for more than two years.
