Ukrnafta is implementing new technologies to improve well efficiency

The country’s largest oil producer, JSC “Ukrnafta,” is actively optimizing its production processes and integrating modern solutions into well maintenance and development.

This was officially announced by the company’s press service, which emphasized its commitment to production automation.

One of the key areas of modernization has been the use of gaseous nitrogen during complex co-tubing operations.

Co-tubing is a cutting-edge global technology for performing repair, drilling, and enhancement work without shutting down the well itself.

Industry specialists widely use this method for targeted acid treatments, precise geophysical surveys, packer installation, and complete cleaning of the wellbore from sediment.

Thanks to flexible tubing, oil companies can perform operations at great depths without depressurizing the wellhead.

The implementation of nitrogen systems is a standard practice globally and is now becoming an integral part of Ukrainian production.

The use of inert gas allows for the effective displacement of heavy process fluids that block the flow of oil or gas after drilling.

The main advantage of the method lies in the chemical properties of the substance, which does not react with metal under high pressure.

“Ukrnafta” is gradually integrating these solutions into its own production processes. In particular, during well development, nitrogen is used to displace heavy fluids. “Unlike air, it does not contain oxygen, which reduces the corrosive impact on equipment,” noted Bohdan Kukura, Chairman of the Board of JSC Ukrnafta.

The new approach demonstrates high economic and technical results on an industrial scale.

The use of nitrogen allows for a significant reduction in wear on flexible coiled tubing, a substantial increase in the safety of operations at facilities, and a reduction in costs for subsequent repairs of expensive equipment.

In addition, the technology reduces the overall time required to develop wells, allowing them to be returned to operation more quickly.

Ukrnafta Becomes Ukraine’s Top Fuel Seller for the First Time

Fuel prices rose again in Ukraine on May 4

As a reminder, oil prices fell due to the UAE’s withdrawal from OPEC and tensionssurrounding Iran.

As a reminder, OPEC oil exports plummeted to a record low in March.

Earlier, OPEC+ agreed to a minimally symbolic increase in oil production amid the war in Iran, starting in May 2026.
