Ukrzaliznytsia received two new battery-powered shunting locomotives from Bulgaria
Ukrzaliznytsia’s fleet has been expanded with two new eco-friendly ES3000 shunting locomotives from the Bulgarian brand Express Service. The new equipment has high tractive force when starting from a standstill due to its low design speed and requires virtually no expenses for regular maintenance.
The delivery of the locomotives symbolically coincided with the start of official negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the European Union, prompting the Bulgarian company to note the country’s firm commitment to European integration and the creation of a common railway area.
The ES3000 locomotives are manufactured in partnership with the German customer Hegenscheidt MFD and are compatible with its under-rail wheel-turning machines. The machines ensure zero harmful emissions, high fuel efficiency, and safety during shunting operations, and certain versions of this model are capable of moving loads with a total weight of up to 4,000 metric tons in locomotive workshops, industrial facilities, ports, and large logistics terminals.
This was reported by the press service of Express Service.
