In Crimea, a former prison warden was sentenced to prison for treason
The former warden of Simferopol Correctional Colony No. 102 was sentenced to 14 years in prison for treason.
The court also ordered the confiscation of his property.
“Prosecutors from the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol proved in court that the former warden of Simferopol Correctional Colony No. 102, under the jurisdiction of the State Penitentiary Service of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, was guilty of high treason (Part 1 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). By a court verdict handed down in a special judicial proceeding (in absentia), the aforementioned individual was sentenced to 14 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property,” the statement reads.
According to the prosecutor’s office, immediately after the annexation of Crimea, the man violated his oath of office and defected to the Russian occupiers.
After the occupying authorities were established, he headed an illegally created Russian institution—the “Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia’s IK-1 in the Republic of Crimea and the City of Sevastopol.”
In this position, according to the investigation and the prosecutor’s office, the defendant facilitated subversive activities against Ukraine and directly participated in the establishment of the occupying “authorities” on the territory of Crimea.
The case was heard in a special judicial proceeding in the absence of the defendant (in absentia). For high treason, the court sentenced him to 14 years in prison with confiscation of property.

Earlier, a lead design engineer at one of the defense enterprises in the Mykolaiv region was sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property for treason.
