An earthquake struck Ukraine
On the morning of May 17, experts recorded underground tremors in the Poltava region; these were barely perceptible to people and did not cause any damage or other adverse effects.
This was officially reported by the Main Center for Special Control.
Seismic activity was recorded in the Poltava district, near the Dykanka community.
Monitoring devices recorded the underground tremors at 6:39 a.m. Kyiv time. The earthquake’s magnitude was determined to be 2.6 on the Richter scale, and its epicenter was located at a depth of 4 kilometers.
According to seismologists’ classification, such movements of the Earth’s crust fall into the category of barely perceptible tremors, which are usually detected only by specialized equipment.
Despite the low intensity of the tremors, experts are gathering additional information from eyewitnesses to the event to make more accurate calculations.
Local residents who may have felt the seismic activity are asked to report it to specialists to help determine the earthquake’s energy parameters. This will help scientists better understand the nature of local underground processes.

Additionally, Taiwan detected the presence of Chinese military ships near its territory in the Taiwan Strait and put its response forces on alert.
