The High Anti-Corruption Court convicted a relative of MP Goncharenko
The High Anti-Corruption Court found Mykola Derevianko, a former member of the Odesa Regional Council from the “European Solidarity” party, and Volodymyr Herasymchuk, director of Ukrmezhbud LLC, guilty. The court sentenced them to 4.5 and 4 years in prison, respectively, for abuse of office.
Olesya Derevianko, the wife of Mykola Derevianko, is the third cousin of a member of the Verkhovna Rada. She was also a suspect.
The court upheld the civil claim filed by the SAPO prosecutor and ordered the convicted individuals to jointly pay over 16.3 million UAH to the Tsebrykivka Village Council in the Odesa region.
In 2018, the deputy arranged for the head of the Tsebrykivka settlement council to enter into contracts for the installation of street lighting with a company under his control, bypassing tender procedures.
The conspirators artificially divided the procurement into parts (individual streets in the settlement), each of which did not exceed 1.5 million UAH in cost, allowing the contracting authority to enter into contracts without using the electronic procurement system. This allowed the contractor to inflate the cost of the work by more than six times.
Subsequently, the regional council deputy organized the forgery of acceptance certificates for completed construction work, which contained false information regarding the expenses incurred. This served as the basis for transferring an inflated payment to the contractor. As a result, 6 million UAH was unjustifiably transferred to his company’s account.
Subsequently, another incident was uncovered—involving 10.4 million UAH. In total, as a result of these actions in 2018–2020, the state suffered losses of 16.4 million UAH, according to Absolution Leaks.
Earlier, the High Anti-Corruption Court sentenced a former Odesa region deputy to 4.5 years in prison in a case involving millions in losses related to street lighting.
As a reminder, the reform of the Military Service Code will take place after changes to military salaries and terms of service.
Earlier, Svyrydenko reported that the Ministry of Defense plans to increase allowances for military personnel and introduce clear terms of service.
