Video: Documents Were Forcibly Seized from a Lawyer During a Search in Odesa
Questions have arisen regarding the search conducted by the BEB in Odesa last week. According to Oleg Shram, a representative of the National Bar Association of Ukraine, BEB detectives, accompanied by approximately 50 border guards armed “to the teeth,” violated a number of laws during the search.
“The video
shows BEB officers who, with the help of about 50 border guard service personnel armed ‘to the teeth’ (according to an ID card left behind at the scene), used physical force—without a corresponding order from an investigating judge or any other procedural decision—to enter the premises used by the attorney and forcibly took everything they deemed necessary,” he wrote on his Facebook page.
According to the lawyer, the BEB investigators also went to the wrong address.
“At first, the BEB detective read out a ruling by an investigating judge from Odesa that pertained to a different premises, a different address, different individuals, and unknown circumstances. Anyone who disagreed, as the detective noted, could file an objection. However, the report stated that the search was conducted as an urgent measure, pursuant to Part 3 of Article 233 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. In other words, they initially presented a court order regarding a different address, different individuals, and unknown circumstances, but then, to conceal this fact, the report cited an entirely different basis for the entry. At the same time, there was no need to save lives or property, nor was there any immediate pursuit of the suspects,” the attorney added.
As a reminder, cyber police and investigators from the National Police of Ukraine, under the procedural guidance of the Office of the Prosecutor General and as part of Operation “WallHack,” exposed members of scam communities in Kyiv and 19 regions of Ukraine during July and August 2026.
Earlier, law enforcement officers from the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) conducted a search at the home of the former deputy to ex-Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko and the former acting head of the State Tax Service, Lesya Karnaukh. This was reported by “UP” sources in political circles.
