Pletnyova, the suspended mayor of Uman, was reinstated to her position through the courts
The Administrative Court has suspended the decision of the “For the Future” party convention to recall Uman Mayor Iryna Pletnyova. The mayor stated that she will continue to perform her duties as head of the city and will defend her position within the framework of the law.
According to Pletnyova, numerous violations occurred during the recall process, including signatures from deceased individuals, people with no connection to the Uman community, and duplicate handwriting on the signature sheets. She emphasized that the court took these circumstances into account and also mentioned her conflict with People’s Deputy Anton Yatsenko over his desire to maintain control over the city.
The mayor stressed: “For me, this is not a matter of personal conflicts or political confrontations. There are facts—they must be verified. There is evidence—it must be legally assessed. We will continue to consistently defend our position exclusively within the legal framework—in court, through documents, facts, and evidence.”

As a reminder, on September 8, the convention of the “For the Future” political party considered an appeal from the Uman City Territorial Election Commission and unanimously adopted a resolution to recall Iryna Pletnyova from the office of mayor of Uman through a popular initiative. A total of 6,421 voter signatures were collected in support of her recall, exceeding the number of votes Pletnyova received during her election in 2020. The procedure for early termination of her term began in late July due to residents’ dissatisfaction with rising utility and public transportation rates, the closure of kindergartens, deteriorating water quality, and decisions regarding the disposal of municipal property.
Meanwhile, this year, approximately 50,000 Hasidic pilgrims arrived in Uman for the Rosh Hashanah celebrations, 41,000 of whom have already left Ukraine.
