A soldier from the Bucha Territorial Recruitment Center explained the source of his millions: he earned the money before enlisting

Oleg Kolomiets, a servicemember with the Bucha District Territorial Defense Command and Joint Forces Operation, stated that the assets worth millions he had declared were accumulated before he began his service.

He made this statement during a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada’s Temporary Investigative Commission.

Earlier, journalists had discovered significant assets in Kolomiets’ declaration, including 7.7 million hryvnias in bank gold, jewelry, foreign currency, real estate, and a car. At the same time, his official annual income was approximately 366,000 hryvnias.

According to the military official, all these assets were earned by him and his family between 1993 and 2021, that is, long before mobilization.

“This wealth has nothing to do with military service. These are my savings and investments, earned over the years,” he stated.

Kolomiets noted that before the full-scale war, he worked in the telecommunications sector, specifically holding a management position at one of the companies.

He also clarified that he owns 1 kg 120 g of bank gold, not a larger amount as some media outlets reported, and emphasized that he last purchased it back in 2018.

The military officer denied any ties to corruption cases, particularly involving the former head of the Bucha Regional Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support, and emphasized that his unit is a separate entity.

Kolomiets added that following the publications about his declaration, he appealed to his command and the Commission on Journalistic Ethics, considering the information about him to be distorted.

The entire personnelof the Bucha Regional Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support were sent to the front following the corruption scandal.
