Zelenskyy ordered an investigation into the shootout between the SBU and the Main Intelligence Directorate in Kyiv
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called the shooting between representatives of the SBU and the Main Intelligence Directorate in Kyiv “absolutely shameful” and ordered a full investigation into the circumstances of the incident.
According to him, Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko and the State Bureau of Investigations will be involved in the investigation. Investigators are to review the testimonies and statements of all parties involved in the conflict and reconstruct the sequence of events.
Separate internal investigations will also be conducted within the SBU and the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR). Based on the results of these investigations, the president expects those involved to be held accountable, including possible personnel decisions by the leadership of the security services.
“Here in Ukraine, one may only fire upon Russian occupiers to defend Ukraine. No other exchange of fire will ever be regarded by our state as something that anyone is permitted to do,” Zelenskyy stated.
