Zelenskyy awarded the title of "Hero City of Ukraine" to a number of cities

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy presented state awards to representatives of local governments and military administrations, and also honored Ukrainian cities with the honorary title of “Hero City of Ukraine” for their resilience during the war.

The awards ceremony took place during a session of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities, according to the president’s website.

 

The head of state awarded the Order “For Merit” (1st Class) to Mirgorod Mayor Serhiy Solomakha.

The Order of Merit, Third Class, was awarded to:

  • Andriy Delyatynchuk, head of the Yasinya settlement;
  • Vladimir Drobitko, head of the Magdalinivka settlement;
  • Vasyl Koshura, head of the Velykoluchkiv village council;
  • Svitlana Orel, Head of the Drabiv Settlement;
  • Alona Okhrimovska, Head of the Borozenske Village Military Administration;
  • Nazarii Pavlii, Deputy of the Khust District Council;
  • Serhiy Polishchuk, Mayor of Horodok;
  • Anton Tabunschyk, Chairman of the Mykolaiv Regional Council;
  • Vasyl Toderenchuk, Head of the Velykokuchuriv Village Council.

Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov received the Order “For Courage” (2nd Class). The Order of Princess Olga (2nd Class) was awarded to Svitlana Zachepila, and the 3rd Class to Olena Zhuk.

Separately, the president awarded the honorary distinction “Hero City of Ukraine.” Among those honored were cities in the Donetsk region: Druzhkivka, Kostiantynivka, Kramatorsk, Pokrovsk, and Sloviansk, which have long served as defensive outposts and are under constant attack.

In Zaporizhzhia Oblast, Huliaipole and Orikhiv, which are under constant shelling, were honored. In Kharkiv Oblast, Kupiansk, where active combat operations are ongoing, was recognized.

The list also includes Marganets, Nikopol, and Pavlohrad in the Dnipropetrovsk region, which regularly face enemy strikes but continue to function.

Among others: Starokostiantyniv in the Khmelnytskyi region, which is of strategic importance for defense, as well as Sumy and Trostianets, which played a crucial role in holding back the Russian advance.

The “Hero City of Ukraine” designation was established in March 2022. It is awarded to cities that have demonstrated resilience and played a key role in repelling Russian aggression. As of today, more than two dozen Ukrainian cities have already received this status.

Ukrposhta has issued a stamp titled “Hero Cities: Okhtyrka.”

On March 31, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy presented Bucha with the “Hero City” award.
