There were no discussions with me regarding my dismissal — Lisovyi
Oksen Lisovyi, Ukraine’s Minister of Education and Science, stated that no official talks or discussions regarding his resignation had taken place with him.
The minister refuted reports of any relevant government or parliamentary resolutions, which had previously been mentioned by some members of parliament.
The country’s top education official emphasized that he continues to perform his duties as usual.
A new wave of discussions about personnel changes in the government arose after statements by representatives of the Verkhovna Rada regarding possible reshuffles in early summer.
Oksen Lisovyi commented on this situation to journalists directly during working meetings in the capital. The minister noted that such rumors surrounding his position are far from the first to appear in the media.
“I am not aware of any resolution regarding my dismissal. There have been no discussions with me on this matter. In fact, I just spoke with the Prime Minister, and I know nothing about my dismissal,” Lisovyi told reporters on Thursday in Kyiv, responding to a question about a possible dismissal.
Despite the official’s denials, potential changes in the Ministry of Education and Science continue to be actively discussed behind the scenes in parliament.
Members of Parliament note that personnel issues may be considered as early as the next sessions of the Verkhovna Rada.
In particular, there is talk of a likely change in the leadership of the ministry without the immediate appointment of a full-fledged successor.
“If the resignation takes place, no new candidate for the permanent position of Minister of Education will be nominated for the time being. The acting minister will remain in place. Discussions are currently underway regarding who might serve as acting minister, but for now, the current Deputy Minister of Education and Science, Mykola Trofimenko, has the best chance,” the MP wrote on his Telegram channel.
Lisovyi declared nearly 1.9 million UAH in income
Following a decision by the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, a full audit of all Ukrainian mineral resources and their users has begun. This is a priority issue for the Ukrainian government.
During a session, Uzhhorod City Council member Valentin Shtefanyo handed Mayor Bohdan Andriyiv a plastic shovel in protest against a 12.7-hectare land project related to subsoil use. The council member expressed doubt about the feasibility of amber extraction on this site and joked about the possibility of finding “gold.”
