Azov is targeting Russian logistics in Donetsk with Hornet drones developed by the former CEO of Google
Fighters from the 1st Corps of the Ukrainian National Guard, "Azov," are actively disrupting the enemy's supply lines in the Donetsk sector.
To carry out these extremely complex missions, the military is using the latest Hornet kamikaze drones, which are equipped with artificial intelligence capabilities for autonomous target engagement.
Julian Röpke, a military analyst for Bild, reported on the successful use of this innovative technology.
Thanks to the implementation of AI, these drones are capable of effectively identifying enemy equipment and bypassing the occupiers’ electronic warfare systems.
To ensure stable control of the drones and reliable communication with operators on the front lines, units are using Starlink satellite terminals.
This allows for real-time transmission of data and video signals without delays, which is critical for precise targeting.
The detailed technical specifications of the Hornet model are currently being kept secret for security reasons. However, according to unconfirmed reports, this strike drone has an impressive flight range that can reach 100–150 kilometers.
Experts estimate that the Hornet’s warhead weighs about 5 kilograms. This is sufficient to completely destroy enemy ammunition trucks, fuel tankers, or lightly armored vehicles deep behind enemy lines.
The drone is designed and manufactured by the American company Swift Beat.
The owner of this company is renowned tech investor and former Google CEO Eric Schmidt, who has repeatedly expressed his support for Ukrainian defense innovations.
The use of drones equipped with artificial intelligence marks a new phase in combat operations near Donetsk.
"Azov" has demonstrated high effectiveness in cutting off the enemy group’s supply routes, significantly weakening the invaders’ offensive capabilities.
