Budanov met with the Turkish foreign minister to discuss the resumption of peace talks
Kyrylo Budanov, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, held a meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan. The parties discussed possible ways to resume the negotiation process with the aim of ending the war.
According to him, during the meeting they analyzed the current diplomatic situation and agreed on further steps to intensify negotiation efforts. Fidan, as noted by the head of the Office of the President, spoke about Turkey’s mediation initiatives aimed at resuming dialogue and achieving a lasting peace.
“I am pleased to meet with an old friend—Hakan Fidan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey. We have been connected by years of joint and fruitful work dating back to the time when Mr. Fidan headed Turkey’s National Intelligence Organization,” Budanov wrote.
Separately, the parties discussed the situation within Russia, particularly the sentiments of the Russian elite regarding the possible continuation or end of the war. They also discussed the impact of Ukrainian long-range strikes on public sentiment, economic stability, and political processes in the Russian Federation.

As a reminder, on July 16 in Kyiv, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan. During the meeting, the head of state awarded the Turkish diplomat an order for his contribution to the development of bilateral relations.
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine ratified a free trade agreement with the Republic of Turkey. The decision was approved by 236 members of parliament, paving the way for the agreements between the two countries to take effect.
