On the night of August 13–14, Russian troops attacked Smila in the Cherkasy region with drones. One of the drones, loaded with shrapnel, struck a nine-story residential building, causing damage. Rescue workers released footage showing the aftermath of the strike.

 

Five people were injured in the strike. Ambulance crews provided them with medical care, but the victims refused hospitalization.

A fire broke out in the building, and one of the stairwells sustained significant damage. Rescue workers evacuated 10 residents. The people living in the apartment that was directly hit were not at home at the time of the attack.

The fire was quickly extinguished. State Emergency Service bomb disposal experts also inspected the area for explosive devices. State Emergency Service psychologists provided assistance to 23 residents. A total of 47 rescue workers and 17 pieces of equipment were deployed to the scene. An emergency operations center has been set up in the city. All necessary services continue to operate at the scene.

Earlier, a Russian drone struck a high-rise building in the Cherkasy region.

Over the past day, Russian troops shelled 28 settlements in the Sumy region. One person was killed and five other residents were wounded as a result of the enemy attacks.

The Sumy region will be protected from FPV drones over an additional 37 km.

Sumy Oblast has allocated an additional 10 million hryvnias for the purchase of mobile shelters.
