The Main Intelligence Directorate has identified Russian mercenaries from Kyrgyzstan who were killed in Ukraine
Ukrainian intelligence has identified two Kyrgyz citizens who fought on Russia’s side against Ukraine and were killed in action. According to the Main Intelligence Directorate, the men had traveled to Russia to work but eventually became participants in the Russian aggression.
What is known?
On May 5, 2026, Denis Yevgenyevich Alekeyev (born May 4, 1986) signed a one-year contract with the Russian Armed Forces.
“His rank was 1st-class rifleman. After brief training, he was sent to the Donetsk region, where, just half a month later, in mid-June, the Ukrainian Defense Forces neutralized him near the village of Lypove,” the report states.
Prior to this, Alekseev had been residing in Russia, presumably as a migrant worker. In April 2026, he lost his Kyrgyz passport and received a new one at the embassy.
The second Kyrgyz citizen, Dastan Azhimudovich Tagaev (born February 24, 1983), was in Novosibirsk as a migrant worker.
“On September 10, 2025, during a raid in the city, Russian law enforcement officers issued Tagayev a ruling on an administrative offense for illegally staying on the territory of the aggressor state and imposed a fine of 5,000 rubles.
Until the end of the year, Tagayev continued to work in the Russian Federation, but later, under pressure from the Russian police and due to the threat of imprisonment related to his expired documents, he signed a contract with the occupying army,” intelligence sources reported.
He underwent brief training, after which he was sent to fight against Ukraine.
In May 2026, Tagayev was killed by the Security and Defense Forces of Ukraine in the Zaporizhzhia sector.
