Khmara postponed his trips to Germany and Norway due to attacks by the Russian Federation
Ukrainian Defense Minister Yevhen Khmara has postponed his overseas visits scheduled for this week. These include trips to Germany and Norway, which were postponed due to the intensification of Russian attacks on Ukraine.
According to sources speaking to Glavkom, due to the security situation in Ukraine and the escalation of Russian aggression, the minister needs to focus on operational work and accelerating efforts to counter Russian aggression.
“Defense Minister Yevhen Khmara has postponed visits to Germany and Norway, which were planned for this week, due to the situation in Ukraine and the increase in Russian attacks. This requires immediate attention and the acceleration of all countermeasures,” the sources said.
At the same time, the postponement of in-person meetings does not mean an end to cooperation with international partners. As noted by the Ministry of Defense, the necessary negotiations will take place in other formats.
“Discussions with partners will be held in other formats, and we appreciate their support. New aid packages and decisions for Ukraine are being prepared,” the sources noted.
The day before, Khmara had already held talks with European partners. On September 28, he participated in a meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council at the level of defense ministers of EU member states. During the meeting, the minister discussed the security situation in Ukraine and the needs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
In particular, Khmara called on European countries to expedite the allocation of funds for Ukraine’s defense needs and requested additional resources to counter Russian drones and ballistic missiles. According to him, Ukraine needs these decisions as early as this fall so that manufacturers have enough time to procure components and produce the necessary weapons.
