A Moscow thermal power plant is being reinforced with concrete blocks following an attack by Ukrainian drones
In Moscow, work has begun urgently to surround Thermal Power Plant No. 8 with concrete blocks. The aim is to protect the facility from possible attacks by Ukrainian drones.
The work was observed on Volgogradsky Prospekt in the Russian capital, where Moscow Thermal Power Plant No. 8 is located. Footage of the installation of the concrete structures has been shared online.
According to information from social media, the installed blocks are intended to serve as the foundation for the subsequent installation of anti-drone nets around this critical facility.
Work to fortify the power plant began immediately after a massive drone strike on Moscow on the night of September 20. Sergei Sobyanin, the mayor of the Russian capital, complained that this was the largest-scale attack to date and claimed that 450 drones were shot down as they approached the city.
Despite statements by local authorities about the success of the air defense system, some of the drones still reached their targets. Specifically, the “Gazpromneft-Moscow Oil Refinery” in the Kapotnya district, a warehouse complex in the town of Sofino, and a thermal power plant in the city of Dzerzhinsky were struck.

The three-day voting for 450 seats in the State Duma, the lower house of the Russian parliament, concluded on Sunday, September 20. According to the Russian Central Election Commission, voter turnout was close to 59.32%. CEC Chair Ella Pamfilova stated that the ruling “United Russia” party received 57.83% of the vote.
Thus, based on preliminary results, “United Russia” may secure a constitutional majority in the State Duma following the parliamentary elections. It could win 355 of the 450 seats.
