Chernihiv Region is preparing for a more challenging heating season
The Chernihiv region is preparing critical infrastructure facilities for the 2026–2027 heating season, which may be more challenging than the previous one. Vyacheslav Chaus, head of the Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, made this statement in an interview with Suspilne, according to Ukrainska Pravda.
According to him, some of the preparatory measures are proceeding on schedule, but certain tasks are progressing more slowly due to constant Russian shelling. Russian troops are also attacking facilities where protective measures are already being implemented.
Chaus noted that the region must strengthen the protection of critical infrastructure. Special attention is being paid to creating a reserve of generators for such facilities.
“I believe that next winter will definitely not be any easier than the one we just went through. It definitely won’t be easier. It will be harder and more complicated. God willing, I’m wrong,” Chaus said. He added that the region must prepare for the worst-case scenario.
