The occupiers are turning the ruins of Donetsk Oblast into tourist attractions
In the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk Oblast, Russian invaders have officially announced the launch of "military-historical tourism" routes.
This was reported by the Center for Countering Disinformation.
Instead of rebuilding destroyed infrastructure and housing, the enemy is creating propaganda sites at battle sites.
The region’s occupying authorities have stated their intention to prioritize the development of military tourism.
This involves creating a network of routes through so-called “sites of military glory” and organizing tours of locations directly linked to Russia’s full-scale invasion.
The Center for Countering Disinformation notes that the main goal of such projects is the aggressive ideological indoctrination of the population.
The systematic militarization of life in the occupied territories is aimed at justifying the armed aggression against Ukraine. The occupiers are attempting to impose their own narrative of events, glorifying the war crimes committed and manipulating facts about the destruction of cities.
The invaders cynically gloss over the consequences of the assaults, the mass deaths of civilians, and the infrastructure that has been completely destroyed.
They attempt to shift the blame for the humanitarian catastrophe onto the Armed Forces of Ukraine, creating a distorted picture for visitors from the Russian Federation.
These “tours” place special emphasis on young people, for whom they attempt to romanticize the image of combat operations.
The creation of such routes is a direct attempt by the invaders to profit from the ruins they themselves have caused.
“The development of ‘military-historical tourism’ is also an attempt to monetize the war, turning destroyed cities into a resource for profit and ideological influence,” the Center states.
As a reminder, the occupiers have established a plan for the forced mobilization of students in the Donetsk region.
The occupiers have also come up with a new excuse for the water shortage in Donbas.
