Perm Oil Refinery in Russia Remains Shut Down Following Drone Attack – Reuters

The Perm oil refinery in Russia completely shut down following a drone attack on May 7, which caused a fire and damaged equipment. According to Reuters, the facility remains shut down.

Following the strikes, three main primary oil distillation units were immediately shut down, along with some secondary units.

One of the units—CDU-4—has been out of service since April 30 due to a separate drone strike.

Perm is located more than 1,500 km from the border with Ukraine.
Repair work at the plant could take several weeks.

The refinery is owned by Lukoil, Russia’s largest private oil company. In 2024, it processed approximately 12.6 million tons of crude oil—about 250,000 barrels per day. The plant also produced 2 million tons of gasoline, 5.3 million tons of diesel fuel, 700,000 tons of coke, and 200,000 tons of fuel oil.

Attacks on the refinery have costRussia over $7 billion since the start of the year — WP.

As a reminder, the day before, the Ukrainian Defense Forces attacked the Tuapse oil refinery for the fourth time in the last two weeks. A massive fire broke out on the plant’s grounds following a series of explosions.

As a reminder, drones attacked Tuapse again, causing fires at the refinery and in the port.

In Tuapse, refinery capacity has decreased following the latest attack.
