Dmitry Peskov, spokesperson for the leader of the Russian Federation—the aggressor state—stated that there is no new momentum in the dialogue regarding ending the war against Ukraine. This was reported by “Ukrainska Pravda,” citing the Russian news agency “Interfax.”

Peskov responded to a question about a possible acceleration of the so-called “Ukrainian settlement” against the backdrop of a meeting between Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Manila.

“I wouldn’t be overly optimistic in this situation. Indeed, contacts are taking place—that’s always positive. But it’s not possible to speak of any new momentum or acceleration at this time,” he said.

Commenting on a possible meeting between the leaders of Russia and the U.S., Peskov stated that dialogue with the American side is continuing “through existing working channels.” He also expressed hope for further communication in Moscow.

After the meeting in Manila, Rubio stated that he had discussed with Lavrov the need to end the war against Ukraine. According to him, achieving peace requires “new ideas,” since previous proposals at that time were unacceptable to Ukraine. Meanwhile, the Russian Foreign Ministry stated that Lavrov emphasized the “unacceptability” of further arms deliveries to Ukraine.
