Police identify executioner who killed an unarmed Ukrainian soldier
Police in Sumy region have identified a Russian serviceman responsible for the deliberate killing of Ukrainian prisoner of war Volodymyr Lysenko during the temporary occupation of the region in 2022.
According to the National Police of Ukraine, Russian officer Artyom Skvortsov, acting together with other Russian soldiers, shot Lysenko after he had laid down his arms and surrendered.
Investigators classified the actions of the Russian serviceman as a violation of the laws and customs of war combined with the intentional killing of a prisoner of war. The cynicism of the crime lies in the fact that the Ukrainian soldier had surrendered unarmed, yet Russian troops immediately opened fire, killing him with three aimed shots at close range.

Ukrainian law enforcement authorities have identified and announced suspicions against 211 individuals involved in war crimes committed in Bucha and the surrounding district.
Earlier, in Kherson region, an occupying soldier who had previously fought near Kyiv was captured. During questioning, he reportedly confessed to shooting a civilian in Bucha.
The Associated Press, in cooperation with PBS Frontline and visual data analysts from SITU Research, analyzed street surveillance footage and intercepted phone calls of Russian occupiers, reconstructing the so-called “cleansing operation” carried out in Bucha during the occupation of the city near Kyiv.
