US envoy Kushner expects progress in talks in Kyiv — Jerusalem Post
A US delegation including Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff in Kyiv, Ukraine, hopes to achieve further progress in peace negotiations to end the war. Kushner stated this after the first round of talks, the Jerusalem Post reports.
First round of talks
Witkoff told journalists that the US team was greatly encouraged by the discussion, which he described as substantive and important. In Kyiv, the US envoys met with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and other senior Ukrainian officials.
Before traveling to Kyiv, Kushner and Witkoff held three-hour talks in Moscow with Vladimir Putin, president of the Russian Federation, an aggressor state. According to the publication, the meeting did not bring a breakthrough in settling the war.
Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov called the talks with the US representatives extremely useful. At the same time, a White House representative told Reuters that the US administration plans to announce further steps in the coming weeks.

Ukraine's position and Europe's participation
On the eve of the US delegation's arrival, Zelenskyy said that he had held a preparatory meeting with the negotiating group. According to him, Ukraine seeks to end the war, has prepared its proposals, and considers security guarantees and a dignified post-war peace necessary.
National security advisers from the United Kingdom, France, and Germany also arrived in Kyiv. They are reportedly set to join the second round of meetings involving the United States and Ukraine.
Previous rounds of US-mediated peace talks have yielded few results. US President Donald Trump said on the eve that there was a new proposal, without disclosing its details.
