Air defense forces shot down three missiles and more than 200 Russian drones overnight
Ukraine’s air defense forces shot down three X-59/69 guided air-to-ground missiles and 204 drones used by Russian troops to attack the country beginning on the evening of July 21.
The Ukrainian Air Force reported this on Telegram.
Starting at 6:00 p.m. on July 21, the Russians attacked Ukraine with one Iskander-M ballistic missile from the temporarily occupied Crimea, three X-59/69 guided air-to-ground missiles (launch area—the airspace of the temporarily occupied Crimea), and 216 Shahed-type strike UAVs, including jet-powered models, “Gerbera,” “Italmas,” and “Parody”-type decoy drones.
The launches were carried out from the directions of Orel, Bryansk, Millerovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk (Russian Federation), the temporarily occupied Donetsk, and Gvardeyskoye (Crimea).
The air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare units, unmanned systems, and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
According to preliminary data, as of 8:30 a.m. on July 22, air defense forces had destroyed and intercepted three X-59/69 missiles and 204 drones in northern, southern, eastern, and central Ukraine.
A ballistic missile and 12 attack UAVs were recorded striking 12 locations, and debris was found at seven locations.
The attack is ongoing, and enemy drones remain in the airspace, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.
As a reminder, Russian troops attacked 54 settlements in the Zaporizhzhia region over the past 24 hours, carrying out 979 strikes. Three people were killed and 24 others were injured as a result of the enemy shelling.
The Russians struck a residential building in the Kyiv region, injuring five people.
In the Kherson region, one person was killed and 11 others were wounded as a result of Russian strikes.
