Russia attacked a foreign civilian vessel in the Odesa region; there are fatalities and injuries

In the Odesa region, Russian occupation forces attacked a foreign civilian vessel flying the Liberian flag. One sailor was killed in the attack, and three other crew members were injured.

According to the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA), Russian forces struck a civilian cargo ship in one of the ports in the Odesa region.

“As a result of the attack, a motorman was killed, and three other crew members were injured,” the statement said.

In addition, 13 crew members were evacuated to safety.

The USPA emphasized that the attack is yet another strike by Russia against civilian shipping and the merchant fleet.

“This is yet another targeted strike by the Russian Federation against civilian shipping. Russia continues to terrorize the peaceful merchant fleet and sailors who risk their lives every day to keep Ukrainian sea lanes open,” the state-owned enterprise emphasized.

As a result of the Russian attack, one crew member was killed, three sailors were wounded, and another 13 were evacuated. The attack once again demonstrated the danger faced by civilian vessels and sailors while operating in Ukrainian ports.

This was reported by the press service of the state-owned enterprise “Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority” (USPA).
