Russia has launched a new wave of disinformation against Ukraine and Poland through the Matryoshka network

Russian propaganda has stepped up a disinformation campaign aimed at stirring up hostility between Ukrainians and Poles. To this end, it is using the “Matryoshka” network, which disseminates fake content styled to resemble well-known Western media outlets and think tanks.

In particular, bots are spreading false reports about alleged calls not to invite Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to international events, as well as fabrications about the “glorification of Nazism” and conflicts between Ukrainian and Polish military personnel.

In addition, Russian sources are circulating fake front pages of European newspapers with fabricated headlines about deteriorating relations between Kyiv and Warsaw. The Center for Countering Disinformation emphasizes that no such publications appear on the official websites of the aforementioned publications.

The Center noted that the main goal of the campaign is to sow distrust between Ukraine and Poland, create political tension between the two countries, and reduce support for Ukraine among the Polish public.
