Russia is changing its attack tactics by combining jet drones and Shaheds, says Ignat
During its attacks on Ukraine, Russia combines jet-powered drones with “Shaheds,” “Gerbers,” and decoy drones. In addition, Russian forces are attempting to use weather conditions to achieve their objectives.
“The enemy is using various tactical maneuvers and different routes to achieve specific objectives,” Ignat noted.
According to him, during large-scale attacks, Russia combines jet-powered UAVs with conventional “Shaheds,” “Gerberas,” and decoy drones. At the same time, jet-powered drones do not necessarily fly at maximum speed.
Ignat explained that a jet-powered UAV can fly at a speed of about 170 km/h. Under such conditions, the drone becomes more vulnerable to being shot down, particularly by small arms and interceptor drones.
Separately, the Air Force spokesperson drew attention to weather conditions, which Russian troops may also exploit during attacks.
“The enemy exploits the vagaries of the weather. Obviously, we’re currently experiencing cloudy weather, rain, and fog, so the enemy will use all of this to achieve its objectives,” Ignat emphasized.
At the same time, Ukrainian air defense forces also take meteorological conditions into account when planning the operation of the air defense system.
Yuriy Ignat stressed that due to the large number of drones of various types and limited forces and resources, it is particularly important to allocate resources correctly at the tactical level and across different regions.
“Coordination here must be at the highest level in order to achieve strong results,” the spokesperson concluded.
Yuriy Ignat, spokesperson for the Ukrainian Air Force, made this statement during a television broadcast.
