Russia launched an attack on Ukraine with 172 drones; air defense forces shot down 147 of them
Ukraine's air defense forces have shot down 147 of the 172 drones used by Russian troops to attack the country since the evening of April 1.
This was reported by the Ukrainian Air Force on Telegram.
It is noted that starting at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, the enemy launched a massive attack with 172 strike UAVs, including Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas, and other types of drones. The launches were carried out from Russian territory—Bryansk, Kursk, Orel, Millerovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk—as well as from temporarily occupied territories: Donetsk and Crimea (Gvardeyskoye). Approximately 120 of the drones were Shahed-type aircraft.
Aircraft, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare and unmanned systems units, as well as mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, were involved in repelling the air attack.
According to preliminary data as of 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 2, air defense forces shot down or neutralized 147 enemy drones in the northern, southern, and eastern regions of the country.
At the same time, 22 strike UAVs were recorded hitting 12 locations, and debris from downed drones was found in eight locations.
The attack is currently ongoing—several enemy drones remain in Ukrainian airspace.
On April 1, Ukrainian air defenders repelled a large-scale daytime attack, neutralizing 345 out of 361 Russian drones.
