Russia Is Recruiting Foreigners for the War Through Fake Job Postings — ZDF
The German television channel ZDF has published an investigative report claiming that Russia has set up a large-scale scheme to recruit foreigners to fight in the war against Ukraine.
According to the journalists, potential candidates are offered jobs as security guards, construction workers, or factory workers via TikTok, Telegram, and YouTube, with a salary of about $2,000 per month. Upon arrival in Russia, their passports are allegedly confiscated, and under the guise of employment documents, they are forced to sign contracts with the Russian Ministry of Defense.
The investigation states that the recruitment primarily targets citizens of Nepal, India, Cuba, and African countries. After several days of training, they are sent to the front lines, where they are often deployed in assault units and suffer heavy casualties.

Journalists also reported that during the investigation, they conducted an OSINT analysis of the recruiters’ internal chat groups, identified the training locations for foreign mercenaries, and obtained documents found on the battlefield or provided by Ukrainian investigators.
