The Russians attacked an energy facility in the Chernihiv region and cut off power to two regions
On the night of April 6, Russian forces launched a targeted strike on the energy infrastructure of the Chernihiv region, resulting in widespread power outages.
This was reported by the "Chernihivoblenergo" Telegram channel.
As a result of the enemy attack, hundreds of thousands of consumers in two regions of Ukraine—Chernihiv and Kyiv—were left without power.
The main epicenter of the destruction was the Chernihiv district, where serious damage to a power system facility was recorded.
“As a result of the enemy attack, a critical power facility in the Chernihiv district was damaged. Over 280,000 customers in the Chernihiv and Koryukivka districts are without power,” representatives of Chernihivoblenergo reported.
The scale of the incident forced specialists to quickly mobilize resources to stabilize the power grid.
Currently, power company personnel are awaiting official permission from the military and security services to access the site. Emergency repair work will begin as soon as the security situation in the region permits.
In addition to settlements in the Chernihiv region, residents of Slavutych in the Kyiv region also felt the effects of the shelling.
According to local authorities, the city lost power in the morning following another wave of enemy strikes on infrastructure hubs. This led to a temporary power outage affecting approximately 21,000 people.
Mykola Kalashnyk, Head of the Kyiv Regional State Administration, promptly commented on the current situation in the city, noting that all critical infrastructure was immediately switched to alternative power sources.
Thanks to the operation of powerful generators, water supply and the full functioning of social services continue in Slavutych.
As a reminder, Russian drones have again attacked Naftogaz facilities in the Poltava region.
Russian troops also attacked the Chernihiv region with FPV drones.
