A Russian drone attacked a foreign vessel in the Black Sea

In the Black Sea, Ukrainian border guards conducted a search-and-rescue operation and evacuated 16 crew members of the bulk carrier Golden Rose. The vessel was struck by a Russian drone on the night of July 22.

According to preliminary reports, a massive fire broke out after the drone struck the stern of the vessel. The burning bulk carrier was detected using technical surveillance equipment, after which boats from the State Border Guard Service’s Maritime Guard immediately headed to the scene.

The rescue operation took place under extremely difficult conditions—in the dark and under the constant threat of repeated attacks by Russian drones and missiles. Despite the danger, the boat crews were able to approach the burning vessel closely and safely evacuate all the sailors.

The State Border Guard Service’s Maritime Guard boats evacuated 16 crew members: two Syrian citizens and fourteen Egyptian citizens.

According to the State Border Guard Service, all those rescued were brought ashore, where they underwent medical examinations; none of the sailors sustained injuries or other harm.

This was reported by the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

The State Border Guard Service stated that Russia may attempt to intensify hostilities in northern Ukraine not only from Belarusian territory but also directly from its own territory. The Chernihiv region is cited as one of the possible targets.

Kirill Budanov, head of the Main Intelligence Directorate, stated that Belarus’s self-proclaimed president, Alexander Lukashenko, took the signals sent by the Ukrainian authorities seriously. According to him, Minsk is currently not interested in a direct military confrontation with Ukraine.
