Three of the Kremlin's partners have lodged diplomatic protests with Russia
The Kremlin has faced a significant rise in diplomatic discontent, even from those countries with which it has traditionally sought to maintain or develop partnerships. Recently, three countries from different parts of the world—India, Azerbaijan, and Botswana—have taken public steps and lodged official protests against Russia’s actions.
In particular, the Indian government lodged a strong protest with the Russian side over the missile strike on the civilian dry cargo ship MV Golden Leo, which was sailing from the port of Odesa. Four Indian sailors were killed as a result of this hostile attack. The Indian Ministry of External Affairs emphasized that targeted strikes on commercial vessels and the loss of civilian lives are categorically unacceptable, signaling a significant cooling of relations between New Delhi and Moscow.
At the same time, Azerbaijan took a firm stance, sending Moscow an official note of protest over the Russian attack on a SOCAR gas station in the Mykolaiv region. Baku categorically demanded a comprehensive investigation into the incident and strict adherence to international obligations regarding the protection of civilian infrastructure. An additional blow to Russia’s economic position came in the form of a statement by the President of Azerbaijan declaring the country’s full readiness to replace Russian energy resources in Europe’s oil and gas market, effectively nullifying the Kremlin’s claims to the status of a reliable energy partner.
The Botswana government also issued an official condemnation, expressing concern over repeated instances of Russian entities fraudulently recruiting its citizens to participate in the war against Ukraine. The Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine concluded that such diplomatic moves indicate a profound, systemic loss of Russia’s authority and the international community’s recognition of the toxicity of any further cooperation with the Moscow regime.

The Indian Ministry of External Affairs summoned Vladimir Ladanov, Russia’s chargé d’affaires, expressing “unequivocal condemnation” of the Russian strike on the civilian dry cargo ship MV Golden Leo near the port of Odesa. Ten people were killed in the attack, including four Indian sailors and a Ukrainian pilot.
The Ministry of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine emphasized that such attacks pose a danger to international shipping, undermine the stability of global trade, and threaten global food security.
