In Russia, officials have promised the public the arrival of flying cars and the elimination of roads

Denis Pasler, governor of the Sverdlovsk Region of the Russian Federation, stated that flying cars will appear in Russia in 10 to 20 years at the latest, which will allegedly make it possible to completely abandon the construction of expensive road infrastructure.

Speaking at a forum in Yekaterinburg, the official claimed that air travel at speeds of up to 300 km/h would radically transform the construction industry and allow citizens to live much farther from major cities.

However, this is not the first time such promises have been made in Russia: previously, the country’s Ministry of Transport announced the arrival of air taxis by 2036, although analysts point out the high cost of such technology, which would be accessible only to the wealthy. In addition, the development of such projects in Russia has been marred by high-profile corruption scandals—in particular, in May 2026, the head of a key drone developer was arrested there for embezzling 70 million rubles [approximately 31 million hryvnias] while fulfilling a state defense contract.

As a reminder, consumer sentiment in Russia is rapidly deteriorating, confidence in the economy is declining, and anxiety is growing over a possible new wave of mobilization. This was reported by the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine.

Authorities in the Tula Region of the Russian Federation have redirected more than 54 million rubles, originally earmarked for social support for the region’s residents, toward one-time payments to military personnel, Russian National Guard members, and their families.
