Concrete shelters are being installed in Tatarstan in response to attacks by Ukrainian drones
In Tatarstan, they have begun installing reinforced concrete shelters to protect people from drone attacks. The first such shelter was set up in “Family” Park in Nizhnekamsk—a city located more than a thousand kilometers from Ukraine. This was announced by Nizhnekamsk Mayor Radmir Bilyayev.
“These structures are designed to protect people from debris and shock waves during attacks. This is a pilot project for our republic. The shelter is designed to accommodate 20 people,” Bilyayev wrote on social media. He noted that during an alert, people do not always have time to quickly reach the nearest shelter.
The Nizhnekamsk authorities studied Belgorod’s experience with installing protective structures. According to Bilyayev, after evaluating the first facility, they plan to install similar shelters in other parks and public squares throughout the city. The press office of the mayor of Nizhnekamsk told Interfax that this is the first shelter of its kind in Tatarstan.
