Ukrainian drones set fire to Russian oil refineries and a port: what is known about the strikes

During the night of December 5, Ukrainian drones hit the Syzran oil refinery in the Samara region and the Temryuk seaport in Russia’s Krasnodar region. Fires broke out at both locations, and the extent of the damage is being clarified, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The strike on the Temryuk port targeted a facility that ships various types of cargo, including liquefied gas and chemicals, and is actively used to supply the Russian army. After the hit, a fire broke out on the port’s territory.
At the same time, drones struck the Syzran oil refinery, which processes between 7 and 8.9 million tons of oil per year and also supplies Russian forces. Preliminary reports indicate that one of the plant’s units was hit, causing a fire.
