The Ministry of Defense explained who is eligible to receive up to ₴40,000 in combat pay per day
Service members of the Ukrainian Defense Forces are entitled to additional compensation in the amount of 20,000 or 40,000 UAH for each day of direct participation in assault operations. However, to receive the payment, it is necessary to provide documentary evidence confirming the service member’s participation in the assault and the results of the mission.
The Ministry of Defense emphasized that mere presence in an assault unit is not sufficient for the bonus to be awarded. Nor is it sufficient to have received a combat order or to have reached a designated line.
“To be eligible for the bonus, it is not enough simply to be part of an assault unit, to receive a combat order, or to reach a designated line. It is necessary to confirm that assault operations actually took place, the specific outcome, and the participation of a particular service member. There must also be a properly documented decision by the command,” the agency noted.
Participation in assault operations is confirmed by a set of documents. These include a combat order or combat directive, a combat log, as well as a combat report—whether final, urgent, or non-urgent—specifying the overall results of the mission’s execution.
In addition, the following are required:
- a report from the unit or group commander detailing the results of the battle, casualties, and the temporal and spatial parameters of the operation, as well as the units that carried out the mission;
- a roll call of service members listing their full names, positions, military ranks, period of participation, and the proposed amount of compensation.
Upon completion of the assault operations, the commander of the military unit submits the application and supporting documents to the appropriate military command authority.
“Within three days, the military command reviews the request and documents, verifies the information provided, and issues an order confirming the completion of the assault operations. After that, the commander of the military unit at the place of service issues an order for payment,” the Ministry of Defense reported.
For military personnel on assignment, the payment order is issued at their regular place of service. The basis for this is official information from the military unit where the service member directly carried out the assault operations.
Additional compensation is calculated for each service member individually for each day of assault operations, provided their direct participation has been confirmed and recorded on the roster.
The Ministry of Defense specifically emphasized that this does not refer to a total amount for the entire unit, but rather to an individual payment to each service member whose participation is documented.
The ministry also noted that the conditions for awarding 20,000 or 40,000 UAH for assault operations—and whether whether this bonus is included in the monthly combat pay limit of 460,000 UAH.
It should be noted that as of June 1, the procedure for financial support of Ukrainian service members has changed; in particular, the amounts of additional compensation have been increased.

Recently, soldiers of the 225th Assault Regiment collected 144 documents belonging to Russian servicemen, which were destroyed during combat operations. The soldiers displayed a whole collection of passports and other documents belonging to the occupiers. According to the assault troops, these Russian soldiers did not take the opportunity to surrender.
